The Stories
The incredible story of one branch of our family tree stretches from Angola in west Africa across the Atlantic Ocean to Jamestown, Virginia and then dispersed throughout the United States. It began in about 1619 and continues across five centuries and 10 generations to thousands of family members in this 21st century.
By tracing this family history we learn about one of the most significant stories in American history, integration of African slaves with American culture.
In addition mixed racial groups, the Melungeons and the Mulattos, are introduced.
